'Oman - Foreign Direct Investment in a Stable, Supportive and Friendly Environment'


Speakers Profile:

Mr. Yousuf Al Balushi has more than 13 years' experience as a research economist at the Central Bank of Oman and Ministry of National Economy. During 2002-2005 he has been an Editor of Al-Markazi, a journal of economic analysis published by the Central Bank of Oman.

Since 2007 Mr Al Balushi has been in charge of a special foreign investment survey undertaken by the Central Bank of Oman in conjunction with the Ministry of National Economy and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Mr Al Balushi has given speeches in University of Cambridge, Central Bank of Oman and Sultan Qaboos College of Commerce and Economics on different topics including monetary policy and the role of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) as an avenue to promote economic development. Mr Al Balushi is currently undertaking his PhD project at Kings College London with focus on the impact of FDI on the efficiency of private sector and economic development process in Oman.

Engr. Mohammad Massouleh as some of you are well aware served as the Chairman of Anjoman during the period 2006-2008. He is a UK qualified Civil Engineer and Henley Management College MBA Alumni with a proven track record in project and business performance management within the Engineering and Technology sectors. His career progression within the engineering industry was marked by focusing on the technology segment within the industry which provided a solid foundation for moving on to management consultancy sector.

After a successful career as a Senior Project Manager on some of the UK landmark projects in the 1980s, he has been managing the company he set up, ANOUSHAA, for the past 21 years in order to provide strategic project management services to clients in UK and abroad.

In this co-presentation, Engr. Massouleh will share his first-hand experience of living and working in Oman during the past 40 months when he successfully led the construction effort for a major dual use Harbour delivered for Oman Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and Royal Oman Police Coastguard.
