| BACKGROUND TO MAIN SESSION |
 Mouzhan Majidi is currently Chief Executive of the global architectural practice, Foster + Partners. Employing around 1100 highly talented and dedicated staff in its 18 offices around the world, the practice’s work ranges in scale from the largest construction project on the planet - Beijing International airport - to its smallest commission of building products. Since the early nineteen-seventies it has pioneered sustainable design, and the studio has established an international reputation with buildings such as Swiss Re’s London Headquarters, Hearst Headquarters in New York, Millau Viaduct in France, the new German Parliament in the Reichstag, Berlin, The Great Court for the British Museum, Headquarters for HSBC in Hong Kong and London, Commerzbank Headquarters in Frankfurt, the Metro Bilbao, Hong Kong International Airport, the Carré d’Art Nîmes and Research Centres for Stanford University, California. Balancing his wider role within the company as Chief Executive, Mouzhan Majidi is responsible for a diverse range of airports, cultural, commercial, infrastructure, residential, leisure and education projects in Europe, the Far East and America. He joined Foster + Partners in 1987, and worked on a number of projects including Stansted Airport and Cambridge Law Faculty, and was the director in charge of Hong Kong International Airport and Wembley Stadium. Most recently, he has been working on Beijing Airport, a super-high tower in Moscow, a mixed use masterplan on the site of the Russia Hotel, Moscow, a new cultural quarter on St Petersburg’s New Holland Island and the remodelling of Barcelona’s Camp Nou Stadium.
